Summer Dance Classes 6 Week Session 2010

Classes begin the week of Monday, July 5th 2010. Make-up classes can be scheduled due to vacation conflicts. Proper dance attire and shoes are required. See dance class description and attire requirements below the schedule.

Monday

4:00 - 5:00pm - Pre Hip Hop/Tap ages 4 & 5 or Pre Ballet/Jazz ages 4 & 5 (no prior dance training) class will be determined based on enrollment

4:00 - 5:00pm - Ballet Level IV ages 10+ (minimum of 4 years training)

5:00 - 6:00pm - Beginner Hip Hop ages 6+ (no prior dance training)

5:00 - 6:00pm - Jazz Level IV ages 10+ (minimum of 4 years training)

6:00 - 7:00pm - Hip Hop Level I/II ages 9+ (minimum 1 year training)

6:00 - 7:30pm - Hip Hop Conditioning (Miss Tanya’s Hip Hop Team and Miss Katelyn’s Novice Team ages 13+)

7:00 - 8:00pm - Hip Hop Conditioning (Miss Katelyn’s Novice Team ages 9+)

Tuesday

4:00 - 5:30pm - Beginner Ballet/Jazz ages 5+ (no prior dance training)

4:00 - 5:30pm - Petite & Small-Fry Conditioning

5:30 - 6:30pm - Beg/Int. Tap ages 6+

5:30 - 7:00pm - Junior & Senior Conditioning

6:30 - 8:00pm - Teen Ballet/Jazz

7:00 - 8:00pm - Int/Adv Hip Hop ages 12+ (minimum 3 years training)

Wednesday

4:00 - 5:00pm - Intro Ballet/Jazz ages 5 & 6 (no prior dance training)

4:00 - 5:00pm - Beginner Ballet ages 6+ - (minimum 1 year training)

5:00 - 6:00pm - Beginner Hip Hop ages 8+ (no prior dance training)

5:00 - 6:00pm - Beginner Jazz ages 6+ - (minimum 1 year training)

6:00 - 7:00pm - Teen Hip Hop ages 12+-(no prior dance training)

6:00 - 7:00pm - Beg./Int. Hip Hop Level I ages 8+ (minimum 1 year training)

7:00 - 8:00pm - Int. Hip Hop Level II/III ages 10+ (minimum 2 years training)

Thursday

4:00 - 5:00pm - Pre Ballet/Jazz ages 4 & 5 (no prior dance training)

5:00 - 5:45pm - Mom & Me Creative Movement (no prior dance training)

5:00 - 6:00pm - Int. Jazz Level II/III ages 8+ -(minimum 2 years training)

6:00 - 7:00pm - Irish Step - ages 7+

6:00 - 7:00pm - Beginner Hip Hop ages 8+ (no prior dance training)

This is a tentative schedule. If enrollment does not meet the quota minimum of 6 students in each class, times and class type may change.

Class Tuition rates - Based on a 6 week program

$5.00 registration fee for all new students. No registration fee for existing students. No refunds. Missed classes do not have any cash value.

Competition Conditioning Class Rates based on 6 weeks

Petite & Small-Fry Conditioning Class - 1 ½ - $75.00

Junior & Senior Conditioning Class - 1 ½ - $75.00

Hip Hop Conditioning Class - 1 ½ - $75.00

Novice Hip Hop Team ages 9+ Conditioning Class 1 Hour - $60.00

If you are on multiple teams, additional conditioning class will be ½ price.

Note: Mini, Petite, Small-Fry, Junior & Senior team members must take a Ballet and Jazz class and a conditioning class (excluding Mini Team no condition class)

Hip Hop Team members including Novice Teams must take a Hip Hop class and a conditioning class.

 

Irish Step Dance and Culture Program

Monday - Friday

July 26th - July 30th 2010

9:30 - 12:30pm with Lindsay Castner

ages 7 and up

tuition: $150.00 for the week

Learn about Irish Culture through crafts, music, videos and songs.  Minimum 6 students to open dance intensive.

No prior Irish Step dance knowledge required.





Class Descriptions


Mom & Me - a 45 minute class designed for our youngest students, ages 2 ½ - 3yrs. This class teaches coordination, imagination, musical awareness, listening skills, and helps build self-confidence through the use of props, age appropriate activity resources and special music designed to develop the appropriate skill of the tiny dancer with the help of a parent.

Pre-Combination Classes - Combined classes in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop for children ages 4&5. These classes teach basic dance movements, terminology, rhythms, self-confidence and musical awareness through the use of children’s songs and dance routines, to hold the interest of the young dancer and prepare them to advance to the next level of dance.

Intro Ballet/Jazz - Beginner level designed for students ages 5&6 with no prior training.

Ballet and Pointe - A classical dance form which is the foundation of all dance. Ballet is very structured and concentrates on specific lessons repeated every class. Technique is taught at barre and then placed into combination in the center dance floor. Ballet is necessary for the technical development of a dancer. Beginner and Levels I through V

Jazz - A stylized form of dance that has techniques of Ballet, Modern and African dance. Students learn isolations, combinations, turns and leaps through the utilization of various styles of Jazz such as Lyrical and Theatrical. Beginner and Levels I through V

Tap - This form of dance emphasizes speed and clarity of sound, as well as training in combinations and dance routines. Beginner and Levels I through IV

Hip Hop - If you have dreamed of starring in a dance video, this is the class for you. A fast moving, high energy class taught to the latest music. Beginner through Advanced

Irish Step - Classes are designed to teach beginner students the art of traditional Irish Step dancing.  Class will focus on proper stretching, dance technique, balance, posture and traditional steps, such as reels, jigs, slip jigs and hornpipes.
 

All students are placed in classes according to age, and ability.

Dress Code
Mom & Me - Any color leotard, unitard, biketard, shorts & dance shirt. Short ballet skirts are allowed. Ballet pink tights & pink Ballet Slippers.


Pre-Combination Classes: Any color leotard, unitard or capris. Tights will depend on the dance disciplines that are combined. A Ballet/Jazz class will use pink ballet slippers, whereas a Ballet/Tap class will need both ballet slippers and black tap shoes and a Hip Hop/Tap will need Hip Hop white sole sneakers or Hip Hop sneakers & black Tap shoes.
Ballet & Pointe- Any style black leotard, short sheer skirts(optional), pink ballet tights and pink leather or canvas ballet slippers.(Split sole slipper for levels I through V) Ballet Pointe shoes must be fitted by a professional, appointment only. Hair tied back in bun or pony tail.


Jazz - Any color leotard, biketard or unitard. Tan tights, black Jazz pants only. Capezio jazz slip on shoe or boot style (no ties) split sole, color Suntan. Pre-Jazz combination class can wear ballet slippers. Boys- black straight leg jazz pants & t-shirt.
 

Tap - Any color leotard, unitard, dance or bike shorts & dance shirts. Tan footed or stirrup tights and black straight leg jazz pants. Pre-Tap, Beginner, & level I - Black Merry Jane Bloch buckle leather shoe with bow. Tap Level II through IV - Black leather buckle tap shoe or Bloch slip on tap.
 

Hip Hop - Any color leotard, unitard, bike shorts, capris, Jazz or Hip Hop pants (any color) & dance shirts. No jeans, or long t-shirts. Wear cloths that do not constrict movement. For the summer session ONLY, white sole street sneakers can be worn for all Hip Hop classes.

Irish Step - Dancers should wear comfortable clothes such as leotards, shorts, t-shirts, or capris.  No jeans or baggy pants.  Black Ballet slipper or Ghillies (the traditional Irish soft shoe) are required for all levels.


Special note: All hair shoulder length and longer, must be tied back away from the face. No jewelry or dangle earrings. No t-shirts with explicit logos. No street shoes to be worn in any dance studio.
