Classes Offered and Dress Codes Our Dress Code Policy: All Students are required to have the proper dance attire and shoes by the third week of class. Street Shoes are not permitted in any studio. Shirts with explicit logos, dangling jewelry are not permitted. Hair must be tied back and off of face. Mom and Me: Designed for our youngest students, ages 2.5 - 3 years. This class teaches coordination, imagination, musical awareness, listening skills, and helps build self-confidence through the use of props, age appropriate activity resources and special music designed to develop the skill of the tiny dancer. Dress Code: Any color leotard, unitard, biketard, shorts and dance shirt. Short ballet skirts are allowed. Ballet pink tights, pink slippers. Pre-Combination Classes: Combined classes in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop for children ages 4 and 5. These classes teach basic dance movements, terminology, rhythms, self-confidence and musical awareness through the use of children’s songs and dance routines, to hold the interest of the young dancer and prepare them to advance to the next level of dance. Dress Code: Any color leotard, or unitard. Tights will depend on the dance disciplines that are combined. A Ballet/Jazz class will use ballet slippers whereas a Ballet/Tap and Tap/Hip Hop will require two types of shoes, Black Merry Jane Bloch buckle leather shoe with bow and Frontline Kush black & pink Hip Hop sneakers. Required shoes for boys: Pre-Tap or beginner black Tapster shoe and Level II - V black leather Bloch slip on tap. Intro Ballet/Jazz: Beginner level designed for students ages 6 and 7 with no prior training. Dress Code: Black Leotard, Pink tights and Ballet slippers. Ballet and Pointe: A classical dance form which is the foundation of all dance. Ballet is very structured and concentrates on specific lessons repeated every class. Technique is taught at barre and then placed into combination in the center dance floor. Ballet is necessary for the technical development of a dancer. Levels I through V. Dress Code: Any style black leotard, short sheer skirts (optional), pink ballet tights and pink leather or canvas ballet slippers. (Split sole slipper for levels I-V). Ballet Pointe shoes must be fitted by appointment only with a professional. Hair tied back in bun or pony tail. Boys: white t-shirt, black straight leg fitted ballet pant and black Ballet slippers. Jazz: A stylized form of dance that has techniques of Ballet, Modern, Contemporary and African dance. Students learn isolations, combinations, turns and leaps through the utilization of various styles of jazz such as Contemporary, Lyrical & Theatrical. Levels I through V. Dress Code: Any color leotard, biketard or unitard. Tan tights, black Jazz pants only. Capezio jazz slip on boot style (no ties) split sole, color Suntan. Pre-Jazz combination class can wear ballet slippers. Boys: Black straight leg jazz pants and t-shirt. Tap: This form of dance emphasizes speed and clarity of sound, as well as training in combinations and dance routines. Levels I through V. Dress Code: Any color leotard, unitard, dance or bike shorts and dance shirts. Tan footed or stirrup tights and black straight leg jazz pants. Pre-Tap, Beginner and Level I: Black Merry Jane Bloch buckle leather shoe with bow. Tap Level II - V: Black leather Bloch slip on tap. Boys can wear black Jazz pants, white T-Shirts. Required shoes for boys: Pre-Tap or beginner black Tapster shoe and Level II - V black leather Bloch slip on tap. Hip Hop: A fast moving, high energy class taught to the latest music. Beginner through Advanced. Dress Code: Any color leotard, unitard, bike shorts, capris, Jazz or Hip Hop pants (any color) and dance shirts. No jeans, or long t-shirts. Wear clothes that do not constrict movement. The Frontline Kush black & pink Hip Hop Sneaker will be the standard for all Pre-School Hip Hop and for all 1 hour beginner Hip Hop ages 6+ and is required for all new students. If your child does not fit into the Kush sneaker due to a size issue, they may purchase the standard black hip hop sneaker. The Klassik Hip Hop sneaker, black and pink combo will be the standard sneaker and is mandatory for all 1 hour level classes Beginner through Intermediate ages 8 and older. Advanced Level Hip Hop students are not required to wear Hip Hop sneakers. Boys can wear the standard black hip hop sneaker. Irish Step: Classes are designed to teach beginner students the art of traditional Irish Step dancing. Class will focus on proper stretching, dance technique, balance, posture and traditional steps, such as reels, jigs, slip jigs and hornpipes. Dress Code: Dancers should wear comfortable clothes, such as leotards, t-shirts, shorts or capris. No jeans or baggy pants. Black ballet Slippers or Ghillies (the traditional Irish soft shoe) are required for all levels.
